This self-paced eLearning tabs interaction was created using Articulate Storyline. The five tabs included in this interaction allow the learner to explore the what, why, when, and how of providing constructive feedback to employees. This tabs interaction is versatile in that it can be used as a self-paced eLearning option, an instructor-led training or virtual instructor-led training. The accompanying trainer notes help to effectively facilitate the training.

Challenge: Thynk Unlimited came to me with concerns that their employee attrition rate in one of their departments had increased from 2020 to 2021. Leaders in the organization were concerned that revenue and valuable talent was being lost. Employee satisfaction ratings decreased during this time period, as well. Leaders expressed that their goal in reaching out to me was to increase employee retention by 50% within 6 months in that specific department.

Solution and Result: A needs analysis was performed. The results of the needs analysis showed:

1) attrition rate had increased by 43% in the one year period from January 2020 to January 2021,

2) 85% of those leaving the company were newly hired within one year prior to leaving,

3) employees that stayed with the company had been with the company an average of 6 years,

4) employee satisfaction surveys showed that 75% of all employees in this specific department were neutral or dissatisfied with the quality and quantity of constructive feedback being provided to them by their leaders.

Leaders in the department were observed providing feedback to employees in both formal settings and informal settings. The quality and quantity of constructive feedback varied from person to person, and it was clear that there were inconsistencies in the way feedback was communicated to employees.

Based on my findings from the needs analysis, observations, interviews with employees and leaders, and data collected, I developed a self-paced course that leaders working remotely can use. It is also available to use as an instructor-led course with the accompanying trainer notes. The job aids created will also be available for leaders to quickly reference when needed.

A course assessment and survey will be provided to leaders at the end of the course implementation. Employees will participate in a feedback satisfaction survey at monthly intervals. These measures will determine the effectiveness of the course in achieving the result of increasing employee retention rates by 50% in the next 6 months.

This eLearning course was created using Articulate Rise for the design of the overall course, and Camtasia for the audio and video recording and editing. The course is self-paced, contains three, sequential video lessons instructing the learner on how to apply organizational brand colors to documents in Canva. There is an interactive activity at the end of the course which guides the learner to applying the skills that are learned throughout the course.

Challenge:

Bright & Associates was concerned that their branding was not consistent in weekly newsletters, proposals, and other content and communication. The organization's leaders were aware of the positive impression branding has on clients and customers, and they wanted to ensure that brand colors were applied to all communication in order to distinguish themselves from other organizations and competitors.

My research showed that only one person in the administrative department of Bright & Associates was able to identify the organization's brand colors, but he did not know how to apply the brand colors to documents.

All employees in the administrative department had experience using the graphic design site Canva to create documents for the organization.

Solution:

To ensure administrative employees were able to apply brand colors to all documents, I developed this eLearning course, which includes video blocks, text blocks, and an interactive piece to check for understanding. I also created a supplemental job aid which employees can use at their desks for quick reference.

Result:

The result of the eLearning course was a change in behavior, with all administrative employees now able to confidently and consistently apply their organization's brand colors to documents. The e-course and the job aids are also available for all new hires in the administrative department.

The leaders at Bright & Associates have reported that all written communication is now consistently being created using their brand colors, in order to distinguish themselves from other organizations and competitors. They have received positive feedback from clients and customers alike.

This video lesson is one of three in the eLearning course How to Apply Brand Colors in Canva. I used Camtasia to create, edit, and produce the video and audio elements, and used my own voiceover talent in the video. I used Canva to design the YouTube thumbnail image.
